As public institutions continue to invest in the cultural heritage of Albania, the dissemination of easily accessible information about the country’s countless archaeological sites and monuments has emerged as a major priority. The Digital Phoenike project addresses this by developing a platform for sharing discoveries in the rich archaeological zone surrounding the ancient city of Phoenike. Multiple modes of discovery are offered on this webpage. The digital map above highlights some of the main monuments in and around Phoenike. Inside the map, links to 3D content hosted on Sketchfab bring these monuments to life. Finally, the map is further enhanced by the extensive image database hosted on this site, showcasing some of the most important discoveries in the region over the last few decades. The combination of these resources uniquely amplifies the cultural heritage in the area of Phoenike, providing an essential resource for members of the public and the broader archaeological community, while laying the groundwork for future efforts in other regions of Albania.
